Ryan Shamrock is the son of Ken Shamrock, who coached the Spike TV show The Ultimate Fighter against Tito Ortiz. In his April 2007 debut, he won his first mixed martial arts fight against a 31-year-old fighter by submission (rear naked choke) at 1:38 into the first round.
On January 14th, 2008 it was announced that Ryan Shamrock and his father had both been signed to multi-fight deals under the MMA promotion EliteXC, run by Gary Shaw.
