Ricardo "Cachorrao" Almeida is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under Renzo Gracie and fought actively from 2000 to 2004, with his beginnings in Pride and the UFC. He beat Nate Marquardt in the second round of a 2003 fight.
Ricardo Almeida had a stellar performance in the highly-regarded Abu Dhabi submission grappling tournament. In the 2000 competition, he submitted Josh Barnett and Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro before losing to Mark Kerr on points in the semi-finals.
Today Ricardo Almeida runs a very successful Brazilian jiu-jitsu school in New Jersey. In March 2008 he received his third stripe on his black belt from Renzo Gracie and opened a new, much larger location. His brother Flavio Almeida is also a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and holds a leadership position in the Gracie Barra organization.
