Profile:
Mirko "CroCop" Filipović is a fan favorite for mixed martial arts fans who've been following PrideFC over the years. He's fought more than twenty fights in PrideFC, almost never losing. One of his few defeats was delivered by Fedor Emelianenko.
He is a relentless striker, and has a reputation for ending fights with high left kicks to the head that crumple opponents. Ironically, in April 2007 he lost to Gabriel Gonzaga in a similar fashion in the first round of their encounter. After the Gonzaga loss was followed by another when CroCop lost to Cheick Kongo, many began to question what had happened to the Croatian dynamo. Reports surfaced which suggested that CroCop was considering retirement from mixed martial arts, but in February 2008, it was announced that CroCop would be leaving the UFC and had signed with a new Japanese promotion called Dream. The UFC president Dana White even endorsed the move for CroCop, presumably because he was costing the UFC a reported minimum of $250,000 per fight.
CroCop lives and trains in Zagreb. He is married with a son.
